Volunteer Agreement
By submitting this form, you agree to the following volunteer agreement:

The talent, services and contributions of volunteers are important to the Upper
Midwest Great Dane Rescue (UMGDR) and are what make the rescue a failure or success. Although volunteers are not employees, it is important to have guidelines and standards for volunteer services so that both the volunteer and UMGDR understand the parameters of the volunteer relationship.

This Volunteer Agreement describes the arrangement between UMGDR and you, the volunteer. The definition of volunteer is anyone who, without compensation or expectation of compensation, performs a task at the direction of or on the behalf of UMGDR. A volunteer must be officially accepted and enrolled by UMGDR prior to the performance of any task.

UMGDR accepts the service of all volunteers with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of UMGDR and its Board of Directors. The volunteer is not an employee and is not entitled to receive salary, benefits or other compensation. Nor is a volunteer covered by any workers' compensation benefits. A UMGDR volunteer is expected to carry medical insurance to cover medical expenses for any injuries sustained while performing volunteer services.

The volunteer agrees to take direction from the Coordinators and the Board of
Directors in the execution of their volunteer role and abide by all policies and procedures that have been established. The volunteer agrees to familiarize him or herself and remain current with all UMGDR policies and procedures, and abide by all rules and policies, and abide by all rules and policies regarding safety and confidentiality.

As a volunteer and representative of UMGDR, you agree to conduct yourself in a courteous and respectful and professional manner at all times while engaging with the Board of Directors, the public or other volunteers in written and verbal communication. As a volunteer you agree to abide by UMGDR's mission, rules, regulations, policies and programs at all times when engaging in volunteer activities.

If fostering or sheltering any UMGDR animal, permanently or temporarily, a volunteer agrees to be subject to an inspection of the living arrangements by any Board Member or its designee at any time with a 24 hour notice. An animal taken in to UMGDR's care may be removed from any fostering or sheltering at any time, with or without just cause, at the discretion of the Board of Directors or its designee.

Volunteers are asked not to contact organizations or individuals, or speak publicly on behalf of the organization without the expressed approval or direction of its Board of Directors. Prior to any action or statement which might significantly affect or obligate UMGDR, volunteers must seek prior consultation and approval from the Board of Directors or its appointed agent. Volunteers are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of all proprietary or privileged information to which they are exposed as a volunteer, whether this information involves a client, benefactor, other volunteer, animal or any internal communications. Failure to maintain confidentiality may result in the termination of a volunteer's relationship with UMGDR.

Volunteers who do not adhere to the rules, policies and procedures in place or developed by UMGDR may be subject to dismissal. Possible grounds for dismissal may include, but are not limited to, the following: misconduct, unprofessionalism, disrespect, insubordination, theft of or misuse of UMGDR materials or funds, abuse or mistreatment of any volunteer or animal, whether or not it is in UMGDR's care, failure to abide by UMGDR policies and procedures, or failure to perform assigned volunteer duties as agreed. Director of Training and Volunteers will mediate conflict and purpose dismissal of a volunteer as needed. The board needs to approve the dismissal of a volunteer. If a volunteer is dismissed they will be presented with verbal and written notification of their dismissal. A volunteer can leave the organization at any time with out notice. If a volunteer chooses to leave UMGDR written resignation is required to be submitted to the board. At that time the resignation will be accepted and the volunteer’s application will be removed from Pet Point, and all contact information for the volunteer will be removed.

All supplies provided to you enabling you to execute your tasks as a volunteer, remain the property of UMGDR. Should, at any time, your involvement with UMGDR be terminated for any reason, you agree to return all property of UMGDR back to UMGDR or pay the retail cash value of the property if you choose to keep the property for personal use with in seven business days of your dismissal or resignation.
